The first mothers day holiday was in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrews Methodist Church in West Virginia. She campaigned to make Mothers day a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905 the year her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis passed away.
Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele. The clearest modern precedent for Mothers Day is the early Christian festival known as Mothering Sunday.
The holiday eventually tuned into a time for church services honoring Moms, brunches, gifts, flowers, cards. and an out pouring of love and appreciation.
What better way to honor Mom than a gift of a photo shoot or portrait of her in all her beauty? Or maybe she would rather have a portrait of her children, family or favorite family pet.?
It is also a beautiful gift to give a Mom who has lost a child and wonderful way to honor and remember a loved one or child who has passed away..
